HORIZONS SHOWCASES THE BEST OF BC

Burnaby, May 16, 2005 - Horizons Restaurant Executive Chef, John Garrett, will be featuring the BEST OF BC dinner menu from June 1st thru to June 30th, 2005.  A one-month promotion that will allow locals and visitors to sample the best West Coast cuisine that BC has to offer in a 3-course dinner menu selection for only $27 per person.  The Best of BC Menu will showcase literally the best of BC ingredients for Horizons' guests to indulge upon - from local fresh seafood of Wild BC Salmon, Clams, Scallops and Mussels to local meats of Free-Range Chicken and Pork Tenderloin, as well as, herbs, greens and beyond.  Each 3-course menu takes you on a culinary journey throughout BC. With the backdrop of the beautiful surrounding park and with the breath-taking view of Vancouver and Burnaby below, each guest is bound to have a memorable experience merging both scenery and cuisine.

In addition to the 3-course menu, Bar Manager, Bob Gorrie, has paired excellent BC wines to compliment each entrée to give our guests a true West Coast dining experience.  Local wineries such as: Township 7, Sandhill, Gehringer Brothers and Nk'Mip have been hand selected to accompany this fabulous menu.  

Experience cuisine unique to BC starting your meal with the Barnston Island Baby Greens commingled with toasted pecans, fresh strawberries, creamy Okanagan Valley Goat Cheese and drizzled with balsamic syrup; moving on into your main course with the flavourful Fraser Valley Sesame Almond Chicken Breast cooked to perfection with its crisp, delicate coating and accompanied with golden Pan Roasted BC Nugget Potatoes & sweet ginger-plum glaze; or if you crave fresh seafood, the West Coast Cioppino Bowl is an excellent choice with its Gulf Island Mussels, Clams, Scallops, Wild BC Salmon, Halibut and Prawns all simmered with tomatoes, herbs and spices.  To finish off your dinner, three desserts have been gently placed on the menu to tempt you:  the famous Lemon Tart with BC blueberry coulis and honey spiced whip cream; the unforgettable Dark Chocolate
 
Pate accented with Fraser Valley strawberry, blackberry and raspberry sauce; and the Horizons'
favourite, the Warm BC Berry Crumble accompanied with a scoop of house made vanilla bean ice
cream.  Aside from the diverse menu offering from the Best of BC menu, diners will be able to find something on this menu that will please the palate as well as the pocketbook.

In partnership with local farmers and suppliers, Horizons supports the BC economy and it's efforts for sustainability towards hi-quality seafoods, meats, poultry and produce - giving our guests excellent quality ingredients.  In support of the Best of BC Menu, local produce supplier, Barnston Island Herb Corporation President and Owner, Peter Hoffman states, "we are proud to be part of the Best of BC Menu and to supply Horizons Restaurant with the freshest produce and herbs on an on-going basis ensuring that Horizons Chef, John Garrett, only has the finest ingredients to select from so that he, in turn, serves only the best to his guests."

Lower Mainland residents are encouraged to book their reservations early, as the restaurant will get booked quickly.  The 'Best of BC' menu will be available every day from 5:00 PM; however, Friday and Saturday seating is restricted before 6:30 PM.  For people who love great food and wine or just deserve to go out to a nice dinner, this promotion is an excellent excuse to go out for an evening and bring your friends or visiting family members along to enjoy excellent food and gorgeous scenery.
