Set up on Burnaby Mountain amongst the lush greenery, magnificent flower gardens and Japanese totem poles of Burnaby Mountain Park, Horizons offers a unique dining experience. No other restaurant in the city offers the spectacular 360-degree view that can be seen from Horizons’ window-wrapped dining room. With a setting like this, it’s not surprising that Executive Chef John Garrett is so inspired in the kitchen! Specializing in seafood and meat cooked to perfection over the alder wood grill, Chef Garrett has created a menu that has garnered many critical awards and resounding praise from our guests.
OUR STORY
Horizons was established in 1986 on the site of a well-known casual restaurant, 'The Owl and the Oarsman', popular for their generous portions of steak and lobster. However, the magnificent view from the location could not be seen because the building had no windows! Therefore, when the plans to take over the building and make a new restaurant called Horizons came about, the concept was simple: create a restaurant where the food and ambiance equalled the awe-inspiring view and surroundings.
The building was completely re-constructed and transformed into the present window-wrapped dining room that has been delighting guests from near and far ever since. The spacious interior of the restaurant is warm and inviting and the raised platform seating ensures that every table is the best seat in the house. The patio has been dubbed 'a hidden gem' with views unlike anywhere else in a setting that feels like an oasis far from the busy city life - which in reality is only minutes away. The ambiance inside the restaurant captures that rare combination of elegance and comfort and has made Horizons Burnaby's top choice dining destination for more than 20 years. From weddings to elegant lunches or intimate dinners, Horizons is the perfect place for almost any occasion.
