About Horizons
Horizons Restaurant Story
After much renovation and reorganization, Horizons Restaurant opened its doors in 1986 after the old restaurant, formally known as The Owl and the Oarsmen closed down. Horizons' is the perfect combination of spectacular view, warm atmosphere and innovative cuisine. For those of you who haven't joined us recently, here's a 'taste' of what we have to offer.
Location, location, location...
Located high atop Burnaby Mountain in Burnaby Mountain Park, the park itself spans acres of lush forests, grassy areas and informal gardens all of which transform gracefully with the changing seasons. The Centennial Rose Gardens are the perfect addition to the already breath-taking views. Also known as 'The Playground of the Gods", majestic wooden sculptures carved by Nuburi Toko, an aboriginal of Hokkaido, Japan also grace Horizon's panoramic scene. For a leisurely stroll either before or after dining at Horizons, Burnaby Mountain Park is a perfect location to stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
You are what you wear...
Horizons' interior has been carefully designed to maximize the panoramic view. Windows wrap around the restaurant affording a spectacular scene of Burrard Inlet, across to the North Shore Mountains, Stanley Park and encompassing the city of Vancouver and beyond. On a clear, sunny day, you can even get a glimpse of Vancouver Island.
Recently redesigned by David Vance Inc., Horizons' interior mirrors the warmth and natural setting of the surrounding park. Cherry wood, natural slate, wrought iron and earth tones only work together to create a unique natural dining ambiance. Comfortable, warm and relaxing - everything you want a fine dining restaurant to be.
Bon appetit...
Our executive chef, John Garrett has created a menu featuring traditional favorites prepared with some innovative new twists such as our Wood Grilled Wild Sockeye Salmon accompanied with asparagus-green herb risotto and accented with lemon pesto butter. If you enjoy your red meat, our Roast Rack of Lamb with a Dijon herb foccacia crust served with a sweet pepper infused veal jus is a sure winner. John's specialty is barbequing over green alderwood that imparts a unique, delicate smoky flavour to our dishes. Our West Coast inspired menu will have something for everyone - even for the most discriminating companion.
What we can do for you...
Whether you're planning a business lunch, elegant wedding, corporate retreat, family dinner or just dropping by for appetizers in the lounge, our friendly, professional staff will ensure your dining experience is an exceptional one.
The company we keep...
Horizons is a 'sister' restaurant to the world renowned, Salmon House on the Hill - in West Vancouver and its recent sibling, Aqua Riva Restaurant & Bar - in Downtown Vancouver. All three locations are fine dining restaurants, however, just think of us as 'serving quality food in a great space overlooking great views'.
